Denver, Boulder and placed like that are very blue, but overall the state is middle of the road with pockets of deep red.

But if you are out and actually talk to people not obsessed with message board BS, most people are cool and politics almost never comes up.

Also 400+ breweries in the state is a huge plus

Not only breweries, but if you like whiskey there are a number of really good distilleries here.

CO is a hidden gem in the bourbon, American Single Malt world.

This is very true. But I would also say it was true living there most people didn’t like Denver either. I felt it was a clear separation of Denver people and The rest of Colorado people

In the 90’s it was like Dallas, now it sucks. Of course, Dallas isn’t too far behind.

My primary concern is the difference home prices. Honestly it seems like a sizable chunck of my raise would be wiped out by increased housing cost.

Hence the massive raise.

Many yrs ago a buddy of mine got promoted to the corporate office in NJ and he was scared shitless that he would have to live in public housing or something. Incomes are usually compensated for cost to live in the area.

Doubling your income is MASSIVE and will 100% take care of housing rises with ease

Think about it, that would be roughly 6k more a month in take home pay for someone making low 6 figures

Just that difference in pay alone covers a massive expensive house note

So current take home pay 6k a month with a 2k note

New take home pay 12k and double your note to 4k and you are still way ahead

That’s assuming houses are 2x the cost. There is pretty much nowhere in this world where literally doubling your salary wouldn’t be worth it from a pure financial sense

Cool. Complete opposite side of town from me. But there is a surprising number of LSU people here.

I swear, somebody could post that they are moving to Valhalla for work and some on this board would say it’s a shite hole.
The women wear these huge metal cones on their bewbs there, hard to tell if they're perky or trying to play at augmenting, and always with the fricking braids, they have like one hairstyle there….

I’d take Montegut over it, but that’s just me, cher.

We’ve discussed Colorado in depth, but nothing about your current location. Where in the hill country are you located? That information is important too.

Take the leap.

Not sure what double your income would get you too. You’d need it to be at least 120+ to live here comfortably. Not including your spouses income. 225-250 as a couple is a good starting spot.

Politics aren’t that bad. Just find a friend group that isn’t about all that and you’re fine.

Castle rock is a super nice place to live.

Currently living in Boerne, TX. I really love it here. BUT, I also love the mountains.

I’ve got at-least 100k equity in my home here that’s worth roughly 430-450k.

The move to Denver would bring my household income up to about 275-280k on target expectations.

My old company was in the Tech center so I would go 7-8 times a year and still have a lot of friends there. They keep moving further out from Denver. I have a few in Castle Rock and the Springs is growing like a weed but also becoming expensive.

The secret got out about Denver 15 years ago and now it's very expensive and downtown is a shell of what it was. I remember the downtown blocked off mall area was hopping and now its homeless and druggies.

You can always move to Cherry Check and join a yoga class to look at some amazing milfs.

You can do much worse than Colorado

Unless you and the wife have a tremendous spending problem, that should be plenty for you to get a good house, daycare, getting close to maxing out retirement contributions, and reasonable middle class luxuries.

I think you'll regret not doubling your income and presumably making a step in career progression.
