Unfortunately I’m a felon in a past life so can’t own a gun. But if I did…. Mass would be the top place I’d adhere to the ‘would rather get caught with it then without it’

Fun fact: The government does not consider a black powder pistol as a firearm. (Go figure that logic out...) You could legally own one theoretically as long as your state allows it.

You could possibly conceal a Schofield well.

You don't need one if you're in Texas, unless your church specifically prohibits non LTC holders.

I appreciate this caution. You should consider some light training. 50-100 rounds a week will have you good enough to be a useful protector within half a year.

i'm a pretty good shot, especially on a long gun and i probably go through about 200 rounds a year on pistols. i'm just not a big gun guy. i'm right wing as they come, but just don't like them personally outside of hunting. i think i'd be good in a situation, but at church there are much better trained people.

i've personally only bought 3 (30-06, 12 gauge, and a .38 for my wife when i'm gone) but i own about 20+ due to inheritance from my dad's side of the family who were a bunch of racist doomsday preppers. i work from home and actually have a S&W MP Shield right by me.

i'll probably sell some eventually, but my dad still has 1 of 7 brothers alive and I don't want to do that while they're alive.

Going to be a big problem when there are multiple shooters and not this lone wolf stuff.

After the TX church shooting, you'd have to be a fool not to pack in church.
When I'm on the field for games this thought crosses my mind every game.

Oddly enough, sitting in church, I have thoughts of this happening.

Same. I’ve sat there planning out what I would do 100 times.

Sad that we’ve reached this point.

Same, which is why I carry in church

Our church probably has 6-10 officers on site a week plus traffic control officers. From staff, I know we have some people carrying discretely in addition to regular congregants.

It's insane. I imagine we spend a fortune in security.

According to witnesses, an unidentified man entered the church’s live-streaming area during the morning service and placed a loaded firearm on the ground.

Probably a sawed off shotgun.

Our church is full of Fort Polk military families. I don’t give it a second thought.

i will. better there than a gun show.

one of my uncles did pass away last week and my dad asked me to go to frisco and help him move his gun safe. who knows what's in there?

he mentioned something about some $20k shotgun. i do think one of my cousins stole a bunch from him though.

that side of the family is a shite show.

Only searched with DuckDuckGo which could be the problem, but is it weird that only this loveshreveportbossier dot org website is the only place this story comes up in a search (besides this thread)?

Seems like it should be a bigger deal. Is this a legit local news website?

A lot of churches have an undercover armed security team. Most people aren’t aware of that though. Pay attention to the “Ushers”. Helping people find a seat isn’t really what they are there for.

We have open carrying deputies, who park a vehicle out front, and church members who have been trained to carry inside & outside. Some are former FBI, CIA and Secret Service guys.

They do. A few select few, well vetted, and carrying so you'd never know.

Many churches have plans as to how to handle those situations.

Where I am a solo shooter trying to roll up would be outgunned about 40:1, but even in areas without constitutional carry you might be surprised who is armed on Sunday…
