Mostly. People who scoff at cheaper wines annoy me though. I've got several under $20 that I could make people believe are $100 easily.

Those people tend to know nothing about wine and think price is directly correlated with quality which isn't always true.

I'll add steakhouses to this list

if I'm going to drop a couple hundred on dinner, I want it to be something that I can't come even remotely close to at home or wouldn't even think about doing

I think trying to discern the difference between a $20 bottle vs a $60 bottle is probably the better argument

This is mostly true. There isn't much discernable difference in that price range unless you compare from different regions or varietals.

Or maybe you think you do

Yes... I do. While there are some good bottles in the 10 to 25 dollar range... there is a difference between a 10 and 100 dollar bottle.

1. Shellfish. I mean, it’s not terrible but a good steak is preferable 10/10 times for me.
Not 10/10, but overall I could agree that a good steak is more preferable to me.

2. Tacos- again, they’re okay but this whole meme of “I love tacos” is lost on me.

3. Africa by Toto- I have gotten to the point where I’m convinced it has become “cool” to like this song even though it’s merely average. Just like it was “cool” for people to claim they’re neurotic or “ocd” about things.
Not even sure what to say to this.

4. “Good” wines- a lot of people seem to like wine because they’re told it’s superior, but there have been many taste tests where experts couldn’t distinguish between cheap and expensive wines consistently.

Expensive does not equal good though. I've tasted plenty of expensive wine that wasn't good. But the best cheap wines I've found haven't been anywhere near as good as the good expensive wines I've had. Making great wine isn't a cheap endeavor.

I am the $10. Obviously. My lack of a palate is well known around here.

I'll allow it. This is a weird obsession some people have.

Netflix binges, and the whole meme culture surrounding it.

If my SO is working (generally gone for 5-7 days), the TV doesn’t even get turned on. I’ll occasionally watch something, but for the most part that’s not at all how I spend my free time/weekends. I like to get out of the house.
