Thanks Pontiff but I always say some Hail Marys ahead of time to give myself a little wiggle room on the weekends.

Sounds like they just make up shite as they go. With that said, I thought you could always ask God for forgiveness directly? But confession just made it "more official"

This thread has turned into 99% of the OT threads where no one reads the link provided and just make posts based on their own opinion of the thread title.

So God just says "Hold on Chris, let me wait and see what the priest has to say about all that?"

Uhhh.....isn’t this a huge admission from the pope?

So that stupid people understand, Uhhhh this has been practiced since ahhh forever. He says If you CAN'T receive the sacrament of Penance. (which is the case now) Doesn't mean just any ol time. Also for the stupid, if you believe you are in danger of losing your life, and CAN'T have a priest present, confessing directly to God is also a good confession in the Catholic Church. Learn before you look stupid.

I know a lot of people don’t understand or appreciate confession, but as a Catholic I enjoy meeting with and talking to my priest for confession. They’re still human and a lot suffer from depression and other issues that we all do.

no offense but I have as much interest in learning Catholic rituals as I do those of the Masons or Boy Scouts

Catholic priests all over the Archdiocese of NO are making themselves available for confession so this doesn’t really mean what people are implying it means. Many are doing “drive thru” confessions where folks can stay in their car and keep the 6ft social distance.

The vast majority of people can go to confession if they want to.

Lol you don’t need a Priest to confess to. That’s why Jesus died. You go to him.
