Vatican bank
Why does a church need its own bank?
Does it pay interest and/or lend money?
Funny some of the mega churches in the US didn’t jump on this bandwagon to establish a bank or credit union. They could help their congregations with low interest loans and mortgages. And take the guilt out of the Bible verse “the borrower is slave to the lender.”
On the flip side, the church also could spy on the congregation and setup rules to deny certain charges as unChristian such purchasing pornography or ATM transactions at a casino. Above all, the church can ensure it’s getting your tithes, 10% of your income.

There is an ongoing trial of Cardinal Becciu for embezzling money.
If the pope calls the Vatican bank, I imagine he can see what records he wants.
If he calls Credit Suisse I imagine he is told to go frick himself. Seems prudent to me in light of the fact that some of the Church’s money was stolen. But I could be wrong.

According to its annual report, the financial institution’s $19 million net profit in 2021 was also down from $44 million in 2020 and $46 million in 2019.
It’d be nice to think this was the reason.
Pretty sinister why they bother writing half an article about it in the first place.

That’s $385,701.49 per client. That is just the funds currently in the bank. So much for that vow of poverty.

So if this is some ominous sign, where do you suggest those of us with a smaller balance than the Vatican move our funds to?

The Catholic Church? Hypocrites?

Name the organization that does more charitable work, supporting hospitals, schools, and basic human services than the Catholic Church. I’ll hang up and listen.

Banks are gonna end up crashing so money and credit is gonna get bad

One of Papa Frank's main goals has been to attempt to reform the bloated, corrupt Vatical bureaucracy.
The corruption and lack of control in the Vatican far, far outweighs the shenanigans in US government.
This is one of many attempts to get a handle on it.

So it can't get ESG'd - "oh, you dont support gay marriage - guess we'll freeze your accounts". lets not act like that wouldnt happen in 2022.

More than something nefarious it might be a proactive measure to avoid damage from the impending global economic crisis about to unfold.
There is a European energy and banking crisis unfolding as we speak. And “South America is a beacon of economic stability” are words that have never been said in human history.

This is commonplace in black churches. The church loans the money for housing, owns the construction company that builds the houses and the development company that creates the neighborhoods.
Paul Morton in NOLA east is a great example. Just his car claim for Katrina was 7 figures.

You realize these people run hospitals, schools, nursing homes, entire foreign missions in multiple countries. 300K ain’t shite for that kind of operation.
