Exactly. Several bishops, and similar, apparently had accounts with swiss banks they were using to buy / renovate mansions and make investments. This is an effort to bring it all back under church scrutiny and control.

Your post may mislead some into thinking that the Roman Catholic Church supports "gay" marriage. This, of course, is not so. It's very clearly stated in the Catechism that marriage is between a man and a woman. Also, homosexual sexual activity is condemned in the Catechism as Sin.

The article itself states that this Vatican entity is technically a Financial Institution and not a "bank".

Do you not know the difference between Marriage and a Civil Union?
In any event, the Catechism is clear. There is no such thing as Gay Marriage, not in the Catholic Church.
Also, the Catholic Church does not perform Civil Unions. I think City Hall or the Justice of the Peace might, I don't know.
