The problem is that it is the mindless zombie-like crap I had to endure my whole life growing up in the Baptist church. No intellectual curiosity, no questioning of why do I believe what I believe? It really opened my eyes to the phony nature of most Christians and dogmatic Christian belief in general. Any belief system that is that closed minded and fear based was not influenced by the intelligence that created man and the universe. It screamed manmade bullshite. I like your posts Freauxzen. You take more of an intellectual approach to the faith and I can respect that.

I agree with all of this. Was raised Catholic in South LA.

Exactly. And that brings up the whole discussion of whether what you believe is a conscious decision (I would argue that it's not) So even if I say "I believe in God", in my heart I know that I really don't and surely the all-knowing God knows this and I'd be fricked anyway

Just because I, myself don't believe in an organized religion doesn't mean that I feel a higher power is at work at times. Religion is the culprit, not believing in a creator. I think all main stream religions have it wrong. When people need prayers I pray . I meditate and picture the person being well and ask for the person to be healthy. I don't vision a cartoon character like some do. I vision a universe all as one.

Ah but the good thing is that its not the reason that I started serving the lord, I do it because it is what im supposed to do if I want to live a prosperous life and he has helped my life turn around and there is nobody else or nothing that should be #1 in my life but him. I will just take my chances here, by his blessings and positive things that have been happening in my life, I dont want it any other way.

That said religious zealots are just as bad ad Marxists socialists.
America needs to go back to being a republic with limited government. We also as a society have to change.
The whole pc agenda and the philosophy of everything and everyone is equal along with everyone gets a trophy is what's wrong with this country
