What is an illegal sale?

If he could own them, unlimited amounts, then how was he illegally selling them? As long as the recipients weren’t felons a private gun transaction is not illegal

I assume it would include the sale of illegal firearms (i.e. illegal modifications). I'm not sure on the law in California, but one of the shotguns looks like it has a pretty short barrel. Also, the Uzi looks like it has a silencer on it, which is illegal in California

Saenz apparently was licensed to own weapons -- and there is no prohibition on the number of guns a person can own -- but the person was selling the guns illegally, according to police.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) assisted in the operation.

Umm how exactly is it illegal to sell a gun you legally own??

I doubt that.....they will sell them to gun stores.
the government doesnt sell confiscated guns. They destroy them or "get lost" in the process

I have a feeling he wasn’t selling shite and they just wanted an excuse to confiscate his stash.

You can legally own fully automatic weapons,, short barreled rifles and suppressors if you pay the taxes/register them.
If you sell them to anyone that hasn't done that, it's a federal crime.

You need a FFL license to sell them at what I am perceiving as his level. its the law
quote:

The federal Gun Control Act (GCA) requires that persons who are engaged in the business of dealing in firearms be licensed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

quote:

As a general rule, you will need a license if you repetitively buy and
sell firearms with the principal motive of making a profit. In contrast,
if you only make occasional sales of firearms from your personal
collection, you do not need to be licensed.
? Courts have identified several factors relevant to determining on
which side of that line your activities may fall, including: whether
you represent yourself as a dealer in firearms; whether you are
repetitively buying and selling firearms; the circumstances under
which you are selling firearms; and whether you are looking to make
a profit. Note that while quantity and frequency of sales are relevant
indicators, courts have upheld convictions for dealing without a
license when as few as two firearms were sold, or when only one or
two transactions took place, when other factors were also present.

not to sell

His point is that the cop is correct in saying its an arsenal that isn't found elsewhere in the neighborhood.

Has Barney Fife searched all the other houses in the neighborhood?

He doesn't know shite.

They are just different revolvers, but you might be talking about the silver one.

Not that I agree with the confiscation, but will they at least redistribute them? Otherwise they will slowly disappear out of the evidence locker.

There are plenty of reasons why you can't sell guns that YOU might legally own

If you legally own an automatic gun or one equipped with a silencer, it doesn't mean you can sell it to anyone you wish

Just from looking at them all laid out it seems like he is more an avid collector than anything. He doesn't seem to have many exact duplicates of anything. It looks like he just has a shite ton of variants of different types of weapons.

My tin foil conspiracy guess on how he got on the cops radar is he bought a large number of guns from a person at a gun show who was working as an informant. Then the cops set him up by getting him to do just enough "sales" over a period of time and popped him over something they saw that was maybe technically not legal in California.

I don't even understand what is contrarian about what I'm saying?

Are others stating that this many guns in a home IS indeed normal in that type of neighborhood?
