Well now I'll just have to text while I'm on the highway instead of waiting to stop at a light.

Isn't this what everyone does with the occasional text on the interstate for long trips? Even then, I usually call but damn up police in Cali are crazy about that shite.

I couldn't imagine actually stopping if they approached me. I guess there are uniformed cops in the vicinity?

Reason #3218 that we have too many cops.
Oh well after 20 years they can retire for 75% pay and free health care for life. At least then they are off the taxpayer payroll.

If people wouldn't text and drive, we wouldn't have stupid arse police doing all this stupid shite. BUT, people just cannot ride around without their god damn computers.

I'm pretty sure that you can legally look at your phone GPS while driving.

Wish they'd do that in BR

The same kids on Elysian Fields/610 who have been axing for money for uniforms have now moved on to a poster saying that they lost everything...fuzzy picture included. What was more odd than that was their mom wasn't sitting in the air conditioned Suburban with rims like she has been for the past month.
They lost everything except money to buy posters, the sharpie to write on the posters, the printer to print out the picture for the posters, the rims on the mom's suburban, and the mom's suburban. The one who came up to my window was also eating a Nestle Crunch.
Someone gave the mom $1 while I was at the light

They're the spotters. Uniformed cops pull them over down the street.

I've always liked how the police can write a ticket for something they didn't personally see. But if someone up ahead radios them.. It's okay. There's no way that can be abused.

They're basically hunting people down for traffic violations.
When did police department's decide that it's ok to actively fleece the public they are paid to protect and serve?
Somewhere between Andy Griffin and CHIPs we took a wrong turn.

Wait. I know it varies for every department. But do you mean 75% pay every year for the rest of their life? Or is it a one-time lump sum deal?

This.
On the way from Memphis back to NOLA a couple of weeks ago, I passed the same a-hole THREE frickING TIMES on I-55 (he was going 60 and I had stopped a couple of times). Each time his head was pointed straight down looking at his phone.
Take a long (4 hours plus) drive on the interstate, and count how many people are playing on their phones at 80 MPH.
It'll make you want to buy a helicopter.
Or a tank.

Have you seen the way that too many people drive while they have their faces in a phone? I'd say protecting and serving is exactly what they're doing.

I wrecked into the back of this smoking hot chick while writing an email in traffic. Had a bench warrant and had to sweet talk my way out of her calling the coppers. Worked well, I got the digits, paid $470, had sex, profit/loss
I don't text or email while moving anymore. If I am at a complete stop I will. Otherwise, no dice

Have you seen the computers the squad cars have mounted in their vehicles? It's MUCH more dangerous to be viewing the screens in these cruisers. Yet to ticket citizens for a albeit similar action is the definition of HYPOCRISY.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander so to ticket citizens for the exact behavior the ticketers are exhibiting doesn't do much for citizens respect of law enforcement.
