Pepper spray actually doesn’t work on dogs but sometimes they run off just from being surprised by the spray itself.

Do you have any support for dogs being immune to capsaicin?

Some new facts have come out since then...

quote:

The Tarrant County medical examiner identified the dead woman as 30-year-old Margarita Brooks; the Arlington Fire Department confirmed on Friday that Brooks was Fire Capt. Troy Brooks' daughter, according to reports by NBC 5.

Emergency responders and the officer, 25 -- he'd completed his training and was released from supervised patrol on July 1 -- were responding to a welfare check in Arlington, where Margarita Brooks was reportedly passed out in a grassy area around 5:20 p.m., the Arlington Police Department said in a statement Thursday.

In body camera footage released Friday, the young officer can be heard calling out to Brooks, "Ma'am...are you OK? ... Is that your dog? Can you get up?" A small dog, a beagle-Labrador retriever mix belonging to Brooks, appeared to charge at the officer

What a gaping pussy. Hell I have a 75 pound Shepard lab mix that loves to run up to people and lick the shite out of them. These guys don’t get proper training. Discharging of a weapon, especially in the direction of another person, should be the last resort.

well we know why he joined law enforcement in the first place, to play cops and robbers like he's dreamed of when he was a fricking kid.

Mailmen in those days delivered mail house to house on foot and were also able to somehow deal with dogs without shooting them

Exactly.

In 2007 in MidCity BR, the mail lady pepper sprayed our Boxer because it got up from a nap in the yard and barked. We saw it happen through the window.
She was startled by our dog and looked like Wild Bill Hickok with the spray. And a damned good shot from like 8ft away.
I laughed at our dumb arse dog snorting and snotting for an hour. Wife was pissed. Dog lived. Mail got delivered.

“ThErE aRe SoMe DogS OuT ThERe ThAt WouLd RealLy frick YoU Up!!1!!!!”

I like how I got 10 responses all telling me that I would absolutely HAVE to shoot and kill a German Shepard when these cops are out here shooting 40 pound Beagle mixes.

Our police force is very, very poorly trained. Need to send them all to Sheepdog Response or another similar training company to get real firearms and awareness training once a year

If you can't handle a single dog, any dog, with a baton, you have no business being a police officer. I don't know what the deal with people being terrified of a domesticated animal is. It's an animal with a few teeth and no other way to harm you. Stay in front of the business end and one crack of a baton and it's over. You have a developed brain and a weapon and it has a mouth.

In before "My Mama's cousin's brother-in-law's former roommate had a 300 pound Pit Rottweiler mix that you wouldn't mess with blah blah blah."

It honestly scares the shite out of me. A few weeks ago my kids accidentally set off the alarm, they called and we gave them the all clear. TWO hours later at 10pm two St. Tammany Deputies walk up to my front door and it sets off our ring. Our dog freaks out, runs to the front door and starts jumping on it. He has an intimidating, deep bark but he’s harmless. These fricks had no business being on my property.

Be happy they weren't serving a subpoena.

They like to show up at 5:45AM and bang on the door like idiots.

F that. we live in the boondocks and it’s pitch black around our house other than the landscape lighting. Here they are shining a flashlight through our front door and walking around the whole house.

I mean, there's a freaking lighted doorbell to your right when you walk up the steps.

But no, let's rattle the whole house.
