My wife was washing clothes earlier and when the washer began draining the water started coming up in the toilet that is near the washer.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good plumber in Baton Rouge?

did you try plunging the toilet? If you are in Baton Rouge, a lot of rain will mess with drainage too.

Similar thing happened to me. Probably a blockage down the line. You can snake the drain yourself or just hire someone to do it. I think the rental at home depot to snake the main drain is around $60.

The problem is the washing machine can dump a large amount of water into your pipes really fast. Any blockage will back up and bubble somewhere. Is the washing machine near the cleanout?

She probably just needs someone to snake her drain.

Martini referred me to Ronnie Marino Plumbing. Have used him twice and found him to be extremely reliable, fair with pricing and honest and trustworthy.

Also, Bryan Leger with Custom Plumbing is great as well.

The second word of the OP is "wife" and not one "pics or GTFO" comment yet.
