I have no doubt in my mind that it's been around a while. It's got that ring to it.
But it's new as frick to the OT and is sweeping the board fairly noticeably and recently. I don't think that can be denied- do you?

it may have been around a long time but its regained popularity is from that youtube dj.

It's called group thinking. You can see it in not just phrases, but also opinions. Some people need others to validate their thoughts rather than having an original opinion stand on its own.
