I'm dealing with this condition in my left foot. Bad. Orthopedic doc has me scheduled for PT, primarily for exercises to gain flexibility in my
Achilles and hamstring.

What am I looking at for recovery time? Weeks? Months?

I will continue the P90X3 workouts, but when can I expect the pain to subside?

This might be your issue.

I got PF in my left foot after doing T25 workouts for several months. Bought a night splint, did the stretches, inserts in my shoes, water bottle in the freezer to roll my foot on for relief....and stopped doing T25. All the jumping around just made it worse. It went away for awhile and came back some after doing some intense hikes...but for the most part it doesn't bother me much anymore.

It will probably take months. I've had it take a couple months and then I have it take quite a few months.

It can range from my experience and my friends' experience. Mine lasted about a month. My friend was out for 3 months.

1. Make sure you're wearing quality shoes with arch support.
2. Do some simple stretches. LINK

I'd be leery of the PT refer. Does he own an interest in the place?

Those two helped fix my problem.

Get the ortho to shoot it up. The shot hurts like a bitch, but will help out the P.T. that you perform.

I get PF every so often. It will go away and then my outer arch will hurt. Play through the pain.

unless you're an athlete or stand on your feet all day it's no big deal and will go away in time.

My son went through it. The time to heal is highly variable.

However, I would tell you to be sure you are VERY healed before going back to strenuous exercise.

My son didn't listen and went back too soon. Twice. Had 2 relapses.

The ortho said you can't injure it anymore than it is. It's hurting you, not vice versa. He said it was the tightest achilles and hammy he has seen. I knew this because of my attempts to stretch (P90X3), i.e.range of movement. Don't misunderstand. Your advice makes sense. Btw, he rejected the shot solution due to the rupture possiblity.

I'm a lawyer and sit on my arse most of the time, especially in winter when I'm not doing yard work and especially this last winter. have had it since Dec, two injections. wear the night boot 9 out of 10 nights, and wear the new balance shoes my podiatrist told me to buy 9/10 days. I bought a cheap pair of inserts from Walgreens and that seems to have helped the most. resolving. I'm supposed to go back to the podiatrist for custom orthotics, but putting it off to see if I get complete resolution. fwiw

Welcome to my life circa 2011-2014. Ugggghhhhh. I hurt the right one trail running in Whistler and then it had barely healed and I hurt the other one hiking in Colorado. Two times I got nailed on vacation in the mountains. It healed over time but not before I lost my old man swagga. Stretching and soaking helped, but it really just took time.

I bought this foot rocker thing that you can use to really stretch out your foot. Looks goofy looking.....but it also really helped as well. Hope it heals fast!

Get a night splint. Will help a lot. Mine flared up at Disney after day # 1 of 6. Made it through the week.
