Sao I said earlier I have to leave before 7am to make the time to work 17 min. From AG to Nokia is 17 min

But you know there is no way to navigate from where you are to McKinney in the afternoon rush in 17 minutes. None. Hell, the northbound DNT flyway over GBT is a crawl and the merge before Park screw it all up further. Not to mention the mess around Legacy or 121 East.

OP, driving in some cases is a bitch. All I am trying to say. Ask questions... where do you work and want to live in Plano

Correct. I don't attempt to go north until after 6.

There is no way in hell you're getting Uptown to McKinney in 20 minutes, much less with rush hour traffic. No fricking way.
Google Maps is showing 60 minutes from Uptown Dallas to McKinney right now...

Rockwall for the win--

Great schools
Small town feel
20 miles from downtown Dallas

Great neighborhoods for your price range

Thats because US 75 is a shite show during rush hour.

You pretty much double your time going north between 4-6pm.

Hence why I get to the office at 7am and leave at 3:30pm.

edit: There's also two crashes on your way there. That's normal though. lol....

And literally zero alternate routes. Can't take Preston, Hillcrest, DNT... nothing is faster. It's a disaster knowing going north in the afternoon is your fate. Depressing.

114 > SRT might get you there quicker.

edit: Actually no. 35E > 635 > PGBT > 35E > SRT

It's in a terrible school district.

You don't know what you're talking about. The nice neighborhoods in Dallas have very good elementary schools. Then most kids can get into magnet schools for middle and high school and DISD has some of the best magnet schools in the country.......big controversy right now is why so many suburban kids are being admitted to DISD magnets.

but Frisco is pretty much where I want to be to start raising a family

Better hurry hoss. It's getting nuts up here. If I remember from another post, you can afford it but man the prices are insane. Saw something yesterday that said 41% of Frisco are renters. I find that hard to believe and a housing crash maybe around the corner.

I don't know if you saw this yesterday but it's interesting as far as starter homes. It said go to Greenville, Fate, Kaufman, or Crandall to afford one now.

I live right off of Greenville near the Trader Joes and honestly couldn't imagine living that freaking far North.

Same, live a block behind HG. I wish all the restaurants would quit closing. But once that new apartment complex at Belmont/Greenville is built there should hopefully be more consistent traffic and more restaurants bars.

Probably not during a work commute. I work in Plano on Parker and live near the McKinney/Frisco border off of Independence, and it's going to be 30+ minutes every single morning. If I were going to dallas, it would be 45+ I'd imagine.

I highly recommend Highland Park. Their are a few of us good old baws that live here that could show you around. Great schools, idyllic homes with perfectly manicured yards, great churches and other community organizations.

Have a relative who lives in Plano and commutes to downtown Dallas for work. The obvious biggest drawback is the drive to work. Other than that Plano is much less hectic and has everything you need.

The train is an option up and down 75

takes a while because its tops so much but it is easy

Agreed. Takes me about 45 from uptown to a friend's house in McKinney. 75 is a shite show most times of day.

Frisco/West Plano is rapidly developing and are building pockets of areas that will be very nice and less gritty than even uptown. The Star, Legacy West and Grandscape will all be nice, have tons of restaurants/bars/shopping. Don't act as though Plano/Frisco are in the sticks. Many of the popular restaurants from "down south" are popping up new locations in the north.
