Not to get off topic but I wasn't aware that there is big mumbo jumbo about folks not wanting 380 to be upgraded to a freeway, because they want to retain their country lifestyle.
These people are delusional.

If I was moving to the burbs it would be...
1. McKinney
2. Frisco
In that order.
There nothing wrong with Plano, but it's oversaturated.
Richardson is another option possibly.

Definitely this.
Commuting from McKinney would be awful but it's a ton better than Plano IMO.

Agree, quite a drive everyday.

Take a look at the Lakewood area of Dallas.

We bought in Lake Highlands. The location is great. We are 15 mins from downtown, get the comforts of a suburb, but with all the better restaurants/ entertainment offered by Uptown, Deep Ellum, Lower Greenville, etc.
No way we could commute downtown every day from Plano, McKinney, Frisco. To each their own though.

I was going to suggest White Rock if the budget was high enough. I know LH prices are on the rise (like everywhere else)

30 minutes for me to hit McKinney from HP in non-rush hour to see friends.
Depends on priorities I guess.

I'd love to live in Lakewood or M Streets.

I can only speak for myself but I don't think I'll ever want to live further than a bike ride to whatever city I'm residing ins center
I also don't ever see myself living in any place that is any less urban (dense) than Nola. So I guess it's just what moves the needle for folks.

Lake Highlands has some ugly areas and obviously the apartments are a put off. If you're not from the area (or aren't close to people who are), you might not pick up on the lack of overlap between those apartments and the nearby neighborhoods. As I suspect you can attest, the neighborhoods feel pretty insulated.
Same thing for LHHS, where the demographics tell a different story than people who go/attended.

Absolutely, Lake Highlands is also called "Rape Highlands" by some. The area near those apartments has a rape problem. Every few years there seems to have violent rape attacks.
With that said there are beautiful areas of Lake Highlands.

2. The last thing I'd want is to keep 380 as is.

That being said, he has a commute to Dallas, and he said he doesn't want to be in a car for an hour each way, so that may rule out McKinney.

Yeah seriously lol. I saw a traffic picture of 380 overhead and I would want to drive off a cliff sitting in that. I'll try and find it.
