Planet Fitness question for the OT - good place or meh

One of the perks of my job is a gym membership, the closest one to my office (can walk there) is a Planet Fitness. I haven't toured yet but I have been by an awful lot and some of the folks going in and out.
Any current members of Planet Fitness here that can give their opinion of the place? I know there will be some differences between locations but they should be roughly similar.
Yay or nay?

Isn't that the walmart of gyms? Like $10 a month? Not much of a perk

Will your job pay for any gym membership? If so there are better options.

If you want to do hardcore lifting it is not the place for you. If you already have a good base and want to maintain or if you just want to get in good shape it is great for the money.
I have one near my work so I signed up. I am pretty serious about working out and I have no problem getting a good workout there.

There's a list of gym memberships through some relationship with a company called Prime. This one is awfully convenient. I can go when the poors are at work though. Wait...scratch that.

If you grunt (even a little) they will kick you out - true story. Oh, and if you happen to be to strong and/or muscular they will kick you out b/c you are an intimidation to the patrons.

Mouton you're probably the most in shape person on the internet!

What is your current fitness level? What are your goals?

Used to lift for gains in size.
However, I wasn't that serious about lifting because after a workout I would play basketball for an hour or more.
I just want to return some gains I've lost and then maintain. Nothing hard core.

I hear they give out free pizza on Tuesdays....

Is this the place with free pizza?

Pizza? At a freaking gym?

Yes, I busted out laughing when I first heard about it.

Pick a different gym. For serious.

Depends on what your goals are an how serious are you about fitness.
If you are into weight lifting I don't recommend.
If you like to go walk a mile on the treadmill and then eat some free pizza, it's great.

If the equipment at your gym is lime green, purple, yellow or any neon colors... you should not sign up.
