Planet Fitness or Anytime

Which does the OT prefer?
There are two PF's here in the Monroe area. One being brand new. There are 6 Anytime's with one being a couple miles from my house. But they are getting alittle run down.
What say the OT?

I joined PF in WM. Didn't realize they only have Smith Machines and Dumbbells only go to 75. I'm about to switch back to Anytime. It's superior if you just want cardio and machines, but if you want to squat/bench/deadlift, it blows.

Do you want to really work out or do you want to pretend to work out? If you want to lift weights, then Anytime. If you want to eat pizza and do cardio, then Planet.

Anytime if you travel. More options. If not, go with the newer one.

Anytime due to the amount of locations. They are not always the nicest gyms, but you can get your work done there.

Is PF the one wiht the "lunk alarm" where they sound a big siren if you're too loud with the weights?

Yeah, but they don't do that at the locations he is talking about joining. Been there 5 days a week since it opened and never heard it. Also they don't enforce the sleeves policy. If they had power racks instead of smith machines, it would be perfect imo.
ETA: I've also never seen the pizza that others talk about.

Been texting same question to a meathead friend of mine. He says PF doesn't allow you to grunt or throw weights down. No heavy lifting.
But I am more interested in the cardio and light lifting. My golfers elbow and rotator cuff injuries prevent me from heavy lifting.
Anytimes cardio equip seem alittle worn out.

Yes, and it's just as dumb as it sounds.
It's a freaking gym, not a library. We have these things called headphones and iPods now.

Anytime Fitness all the time......I do go to a brand new one so have no knowledge of them being run down.
Never overly crowded......I like it

Planet Fitness is perfect for light lifting and cardio.

Planet Fitness by a mile. Been a member of both in the area you're wanting to join. If that's what you want, PF is far superior. No matter how packed the parking lot is, you'll always find a treadmill, Elliptical, or whatever the hell that cardio machine is in the front row open.

Planet Fitness for the pizza.

Planet Fitness is usually bigger than Anytime. One time I found like 10 tootsie roll wrappers in the cup holder on a treadmill @ PF.
Anytime's rates vary from location to location (I think this is because it's a franchise). When I lived in New Orleans I signed up in Metairie but used the Uptown Gym. It saved me like $15 a month.
I prefer PF but if you choose to use Anytime you should call each location and see who has the lowest rate and sign up there

If you're looking for mainly cardio and light weights, PF will be better for you. Again, if you travel, AF will be better due to the high number of locations

Calhoun and the end of Forsyth Ext. I mostly use the cycle and the elliptical.
