Hey man - I was behind on my news - I totally missed the 55 year old being in the Captain's seat. Lots of disinfo out there. I normally do a better job of sifting through the BS.

I get that.

50 pages is a frick ton. Especially with the nonsense on these in particular. But to come in here blaming inexperience when that’s not the case does nothing to further the thread.

It doesn't help that you have every Tom and hairy dick with a social media account pushing bullshite trying to be the first to post "BREAKING!" news. Then, people like stout this morning post articles that they don't even read and make comments that were disproven by the very article they posted.

I heard it all day at work today too - that a 20 year old was sitting left seat. If that were true - I'd be sticking to the inexperience being a factor. Since its not, I'm just full of shite.

You settle for an act-of-God plus?

For sure. A 20 year old in the left seat would be a strong case for inexperience.

Unfortunately for this particular incident it was poor decision making mixed with wrong place, wrong time.

Can happen to even the best of pilots.

Once he gets through I’m strongly encouraging him to look at some military option to get training, hone his skills and bank time. The issue is there isn’t a good way to enlist and then have a guarantee at a pilot slot. Then you’re committed and not flying.

16 years ago i was very close to joining after college. The marines were the only branch willing to guarantee a pilot slot at the time.

Don't know if this has already been posted, but this former airline pilot breaks it down pretty well what he thinks happened.

Like I said before, and the time before that. Maritime and aviation disaster related threads are solid gold.

So sad that none of the remaining families will have anything to actually bury from this. I can't imagine...

Video of some plane pieces and 'other' pieces on a car.

Remember watching a video about a mom who wanted to see her kid after a crash...said the coroner said not to but she insisted. Said she regretted it because there was nothing to really identify the kid...was just basically meat.

Captain Steve is a massive twat. Shocked he didn't make a video the second the plane crashed.
