You'd be surprised at how many pilots have some kind of social media channel for their work

I’m fairly confident most 50 year old competent pilots do not have TikToks.

But feel free to gaslight.

You also don't know what they saw.

Why even make that part of the equation in the middle of thunderstorms? It's not like they were cruising along over Nebraska without a cloud in the sky.

Because how the family said the text came through sounds like that was fire off around the western coast where discussions were beginning to happen in that cockpit. As multiple of us have said why they went north is puzzling but it wasn’t a oh I’m too busy with my phone to pay attention. I highly doubt from all the facts I’ve seen this “text” was sent in the middle of the storm when she’s telling ATC about precipitation, turbulence, icing, etc. asking for a higher altitude. I know for me last night with the more advanced radar on the A320 series I was scanning up and down manually telling the radar what altitude I wanted to look at vs just letting it do its auto return skirting the edge of the system out over the Atlantic planning my descent.

The chick that landed on I10 in Alabama/Florida a few weeks ago has a social media page. She seemed to handle the plane pretty well.

I think landing in the middle of the day at 120 mph with no rain may have made it a little bit better. I am not discrediting her landing but I think this is apples to oranges

You spend a lot of time on TikTok to know this?

I saw the radar show a giant storm covering half of Florida and instead of going south and around it they went north and into the middle of it.

Wow man, thanks for sharing with the class how little you actually know about aviation.

They were talking about icing conditions which meant they were IMC. You can’t “see” a storm cell if you are in the clouds.

The best shot they had at seeing the cell was on their on-board radar and if it was explosive development they likely wouldn’t have even been painting it on the screen before they flew into it.

Please stop posting nonsense if you don’t know what you’re talking about.

I think we can all agree that with the benefit of hindsight, there was dangerous weather in the area that should have been avoided. You can argue about who made that decision and why, but the weather had been in the area for days and supposedly ATC gave them a weather warning beforehand that they acknowledged and kept going.

I'm sure they thought they could find a gap, sometimes when you risk it, you don't make it. They picked a bad time and plane to risk it.

Thats right, they should have been on the radar and not texting on their phone.

And there was a whole person in the cockpit dedicated to weather and navigation.

Oh you’re making assumptions with zero evidence. Literally too stupid to argue with.

Let’s not forget already getting radar returns off everything else weakening the beam for what was building in front of them at atleast 500 fpm

What if she was using the phone for additional radar or ads-b info?

But you know damn. If she’d have just gotten off her phone she would’ve predicted the future, as some here would argue.

Or an iPad and she fired off the text from there

There was evidence that the young girl was texting her bf, but by all accounts and evidence, it was before they got into the shite.

The spazzers and incels can't let this point go though.

This is all accurate with the exception of me being plenty dumb. Otherwise on point.
