Don’t think it was a departing aircraft
There was a departure on Runway One while the the crashed aircraft was on final to Runway 33. The departing aircraft made a turn to the west, I guess for noise abatement.

KSN news in Wichita just reported the plane splitting in 2 that was posted a page or two ago.
Crazy how much faster other online sources are than news media now. Makes you wonder how it stays relevant.

They have to make an immediate westerly turn over the Potomac river so they don’t fly over DC

Walking off the jet bridge in Wichita right now at the same gate this flight just departed from in route home. Very somber mood and eerie feeling.
I will very likely have had a connection to someone on that flight and at minimum a work acquaintance.

Fox News just said military called this a training flight. So, like Driver's Ed, or what? Most newer cars have sensors that beep or alert you when something is close so you don't hit anything. Is there anything like that on these helicopters?

Because they can't just run with anything like social media does. There are no consequences for posting false information on social media.

Get ready to have media asking you questions. KAKE girl was on earlier saying she was asking random passengers that were coming through the terminal on arrival questions about it.

Training happens all the time. That’s not a story.

On the scanner, they just said something like "people found still in seats underwater"

They interviewed a guy at DCA whose wife was on the damn plane. Then the reporter had the audacity to ask to see the last text message he received from his wife.

“Training flight” - the crew was stationed out of Fort Belvoir. Per Fox.
fricking bs. Over 60 civilians dead so the Army can conduct a training flight.

Some of yall need to get a fricking grip. Someone (or multiple people) fricked up and made a serious serious mistake.
You aren't wrong but most of us watched planes flown into buildings.

helo was 200 ft below the crj and climbed up into it. The crj crew weren't going to see it below them

Unfortunately that is an obvious outcome. No way to safely crash land. Freezing water. Fast impact. Not good.
