Ah, one of the OTs virtue signaling thread, a hate on pitbulls thread.

My good friend’s Great Pyrenees (a breed known to be aggressive towards strangers) almost broke his uncle’s arm. I’ve seen countless overly aggressive German Shepherds. Pitbulls are popular and they really shouldn’t be bc they require a very firm and dedicated owner. They are not for your average owner. You certainly shouldn’t rescue one if you have a family with small children.

One thing I’m kind of happy to see right now is the rise in popularity of the American Bully. These dogs seem to be very lazy and nonaggressive, and they are so low to the ground and fat. They aren’t really genetically designed to be killers.

I've had experience around pitbulls and they're quite tame with the right owner. I know people will doubt that, and that's fine. I just know what I've seen personally.

I don't doubt it at all. Pits aren't constantly aggressive/mean. The biggest problem is we just don't which ones are the ticking time bombs and what can set them off. Read any article about a pit bull attack, and I promise you'll find 9 out of 10 of the owners of the pits say the dog was always so sweet and they have no idea why the dog suddenly went off.

The second biggest problem is that when they do go off, the damage they do is unbelievable.

Saying all dog breeds are alike is akin to saying a gecko is the same as a komodo dragon.

I’m not entirely convinced they are “ticking time bombs” when I’d say most dog owners aren’t very good at curbing aggressive behavior no matter what the breed is. This is especially true for people who rescue a pit or any dog for that matter. You don’t know what the bitch and sire were like, don’t know past behavior/triggers, etc.

And interestingly, the majority of people chiming in to support the breed are white women.
There is this black guy I went to high school with who is posting on facebook all the time his pit bull puppies he has for sale. Dude was the nicest guy when we were in school and from what I can tell, he hasn't changed but is in the pit bull breeding business. Apparently people want to buy puppies all the time. Makes me want to get in the dog breeding game, but not pits.

The real problem is the pitiful breeding done by people who shouldn't even own a dog. By breed standard a pit bull lacks human aggression. Today people just use them like puppy mills and breed them with whatever is nearby without regard for health, temperament and stability.

This kind of recklessness has practically ruined the breed and caused some locales to outlaw not just Pits but other breeds like Rottweiler, German Shepherds, Akitas and Bull Mastiffs to name just a few.

Some people are just ignorant and stubborn bastards when it comes to pit bulls. They have the “ain’t nobody gonna tell me nothing” attitude and it’s an ego issue for them. They think that they know better and that owning a pit bull gives them special rights/attention.

“Look at me! I would trust my pit bull around a newborn! Look at me!”

Bottom line, if you own a pit bull in this day and age then you are a stupid, irresponsible fool.

I think anyone who owns a dog without understanding the breed and what it needs is a fool, whether you own a pitbull, a Doberman, a Kangal, or even a chihuahua

I’m working on an in-depth exposé on pit bulls and the world of dogfighting. It’s Pulitzer level stuff. It’s expected to drop in the spring of 2019

I don’t care for pitbulls generally because the ones I’ve seen aren’t good dogs, unnecessarily aggressive. But next to that is the German Shepherd and the Australian Cattle Dog. Damn Australian Cattle Dogs are some alpha sons of bitches.

And yeah chihuahuas can be mean

I’ve had Shepherds and have Aussies. Only had one that was bad news and couldn’t be trusted around anyone he wasn’t familiar with but that seemed to happen as he aged. The heelers are some alpha dogs, very smart, loyal, and territorial. It’s a shame to have dogs like that and not train them.

Yeah German Shepherds are great dogs but you’re talking about a dog that was bred to WORK. If you don’t give that dog a job, they become anxious, irritable, aggressive.

If a pit bull goes to a shelter, it needs to be put down. If it had a good owner it wouldn’t be there.

The few Akitas I have met have all been quite aggressive. So, there is that!
