When the women of America or around the world want to look for a role model, they might want to start with Tammie Jo Shults, 56, the pilot who flew Southwest Flight 1380 to safety on Tuesday after part of its left engine ripped off, and a religious Christian who once said that piloting planes gave her the opportunity “to witness for Christ on almost every flight.”
That sound you hear is the sound of all the douches in this thread suddenly mumbling words of praise for the female pilot they disliked 5 minutes ago, and the sound of all the SJWs ripping up their screenplays about female empowerment

Serious question? What shrapnel is she hitting at 30,000 feet? Is there just garbage floating around in the sky?

This thread perfectly exemplifies the intelligence of the OT.

Seriously. I've never seen so many posters threatened because a female pilot handled a potentially disastrous scenario flawlessly. Even to go so far as "Landing a plane with a blown engine isn't 'that' hard."

How did the passenger die? Trauma injury? Heart attack?
I don't know, but I bet they find whatever broke the window during her autopsy.

She looked like a nice person and doesn't look particularly fat at all

Is it hard? I'm seriously asking. If you're a pilot and have knowledge as to why it is difficult please inform me. If not, why are you acting like it's common knowledge that it's hard?
I am not a pilot. I do not know whether it's that much more difficult to fly with one engine. I have talked to pilots before who say no, twin engine planes are designed to be able to perform all of the same tasks with one engine (take off, cruise, land) as with two. But maybe you know more than them.

This was a pretty easy thing for her to do. These planes can fly on one engine.

She couldn't have been too fat to fit through one of those tiny windows.

How come men pilots never have their engines blow up?

These planes can fly on one engine.

I'm not saying I could land a plane. But for a pilot with thousands and thousands of hours in the air, I'd imagine landing is not a whole lot more challenging to them than making a sandwich. Hell, I bet a majority of them would say they'd rather land a jet than make a sandwich. It's what they're trained extensively to do.

What in the world?

And afterwards she calmly spoke to every passenger to reassure them and see if they were ok. True cajones.

You're trying to say "hard" is relative.
That's like saying quantum physics is easy to understand... for a quantum physics professor.
She's to be commended. She was calm when she had to be and handled herself well throughout a difficult, high pressure situation. Is it "more difficult" to land a plane with one engine compared to one that's fully functioning? Yes, mostly because there are a few differences in the procedure on top of the added pressure of the situation.

Agreed. I can see how making a movie out of this would be annoying, but a couple passengers calling her a hero and some news articles praising her poise under stress shouldn't trigger anyone
If those things do get you all worked up, you might want to think about why
