Bill Gates put a computer on every desk in every office in the world. Steve Job made an iPod.

What operating system do you think every hospital, factory, prison, and power plant uses? What company's software is the only legit rival to SAP for large scale ERP systems? It ain't Apple.

What did Gates do again?
Donated 35 BILLION dollars to charities. Thats billion, with B.
Jobs in the other hand:
quote:
Not only has Jobs himself sat out the philanthropy game, but his very profitable company, Apple, has no charity arms continues Sorkin. "In 1997, when Mr. Jobs returned to Apple, he closed the company’s philanthropic programs. At the time, he said he wanted to restore the company’s profitability. Despite the company’s $14 billion in profits last year and its $76 billion cash pile today, the giving programs have never been reinstated."
He's just not interested in public charitable offerings, but maybe that's okay. Jobs has given back to society in other ways, some, including Sorkin, argue.

Gates will be remembered briefly by history for being super wealthy.
Before it's over he'll be more famous than Carnegie just for his philanthropy alone.

Gates will be remembered for revolutionizing computers. Windows did more to advance personal computing than apple.
Gates also put money into noble causes while Jobs couldn't even be bothered for child support.
Wozniak is the Edison of Apple and Jobs took all the credit.

I don't think Nokia has a strong foothold outside of Europe. FWIW...Apple passed Samsung in the first quarter of CY18 to take over the #1 spot in smartphone sales. Top smartphone market share: Apple 19.2%; Samsung 18.4%; Huawei 10.2%.

I have mad respect for that kind of move, but the dude was a dick no matter his money grubbing or genius level.
And died of the most treatable form of pancreatic cancer but tried to treat it with juice and acupuncture.
