Chuck Pitman was DCS Air* of the Marine Corps when I was flying CH-53Es out of MCAS Tustin. We had an officers' call at the O Club over at El Toro and Lt. gen Pitman showed up. He could drink all of us company grade officers under the table. Great guy. Natural leader.
