It is surprising that, given its content, Li'l Abner was published in mainstream publications in the 50's and 60's. It was a "parody of parodies", to quote on critic.

Capp's art featured busty women with cleavage. This is a picture of the original 4-6-1963 strip. Notice that the editor whited out some of the cleavage.

I could tell by the hairstyles this wasn't a real Saturday Evening Post, so I Googled it. That's a one piece of Spanish artist Ruiz Burgos' personal series "The Superhero Evening Post" inspired by J. C. Leyendecker and Norman Rockwell work, featuring DC comics characters. LINK

Here's another one in his series:

Unsure. The only thing we can say for sure is that this kid definitely grew up to be a prolific O-T poster.

So, who is it?

THIS one may be one of my favorites in this thread. My father-in-law's dad was a radio man on a B-29 based on Iwo Jima toward the end of the war. A couple years ago at Christmas we read through his flight logs and diary and went through a stack of photos. It's pretty neat to see it here in color.

Thanks for this one.
