Google overwhelmingly refutes your claim - even the gay sites concede he wasn't gay. He was married 3x and was a big womanizer.
There's a rumor that he was in a short gay film loop called "Sailor's Delight." Haven't seen it, but it was reported that it is very grainy and is not the least bit conclusive that the actor was Chuck Connors (and, as usual, the bullshite comes out after he's dead).

Swimmer and actress Esther Williams - she had a really nice swimmer's body (though one of the pictures angle makes her feet look like giant flippers LOL).
I like the first picture because she was older and had a child. Her hair style is more modern.

In the 30's, some cars had "wolf stripes" (as in a "wolf" hustling women). One stripe meant married, engaged or otherwise not available. Two stripes meant available.
