Note the "Fabacher" in the background.
I looked that up.
From FindAGrave.com:
Lawrence Fabacher
quote:
Restauranteur and Jackson Brewing Company president. He was buried in 1923 in the uniform of the Knights of St. Gregory, an honor conferred on him by Pope Piux X. He made his money in the restaurant business and lived in a showplace on St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans. Fabacher's obituary noted that his restaurant at Royal and Iberville (no longer his restaurant, but another one owned by the Brennan family, "Mr. B's", is located at that site) "meant New Orleans wherever gourmets and epicures gathered." The Lawrence Fabacher tomb is one of the most beautiful in the cemetery.

Can never have too many old restaurant sites owned by the Brennan family.

Ok.. I found this while looking through pics for WWII pics. I had to get it, I paid $1.00
Can any of you ladies explain this please?
If not... Then what do women from Oklahoma do on Saturday night? Well, get dressed up and get their picture taken on the barn of course.

These mixes tasted like shite (I think you can actually still buy them), but they were how pizza was introduced to many Americans, before ubiquitous pizza parlors and frozen pizza (1957)
Agreed. Tasted like shite and made the kitchen smell like someone had puked all over the place. I HATED the damned things!

Fabacher's son ran the brewery until 1974. He died in 2001

His son was a NO lawyer and died in 2020

Any notable Fabachers still in NO?

This thread reminds me of a random story.
I was working in Cincinnati, and was strolling downtown one evening, and walked past a store that sold mens "urban" clothes. The suits in the window were amazing -- tangerine and aqua suits right off of Soul Train, fedoras and shoes of various colors. My co-workers and I were looking at all of it and commenting.
A bum walking by overhears us, and says "Man, them suits are from the popcorn days" and keeps walking. We looked at each other and then laughed pretty hard.
I assume maybe he meant the bygone days? I still use the phrase "popcorn days".

We considered that a luxury when I was a kid....we usually had to throw the bales up to the truck. I was in one mean lean SOB back in the day, just from living on a farm.
