Your memory is fine.

I’d go just about everyday and check to see if they had a new batch of baseball cards.

French race driver Chevrolet co-founded the car company bearing his name, but sold out early & did not profit when it became the best-selling car brand in America

The man he sold out to, William Durant, lost his fortune in the Depression and ended up running a bowling alley/diner in Flint MI. The story goes that local car dealers would sometimes take clients there, to impress them by being waited on by the founder of GM.

I cannot believe there hasn't been a movie about him

I just played an entire Assassin's Creed game about him.

There were three Chevrolet brothers: Louis, Gaston & Arthur

They were born in Switzerland in the 1870s & 1880s

Louis came to America was a race car driver and had a piece of Chevrolet Motors until selling out in 1916.

His brothers followed him to America and they were involved in building and driving race cars. Gaston died in a racing accident in 1920.

Louis lost the second business in the Great Depression and ended up working for GM as a mechanic. He died of a heart attack in 1941.

Arthur ended up retiring to SLIDELL and (appropriately) died of depression (suicide) (he was hung!) in 1946.

he's buried in Slidell in an unmarked grave.
