Man walks up movie theater stairs to reach segregated balcony section, 1939
"Colored" sections of movie theaters were often in the balcony, leading to balconies being nicknamed "N***er Heaven"

I remember going to the Napoleon Theater on Napoleon Ave. a block off Magazine St. when I was a kid and they had the balcony section for black only.
This was in the 60's and the Jim Crow Laws were very much still in effect.

He also played for the independent Portland team that his father owned.

You say Aldon Reeves, but could it be Eldon?
I have a patient by that name that is 89 now, and I think he played and coached in his day
That would make him about 33 in that pic if it's him

Coach Reeves still lives in Shreveport as far as I know and his name is definetly Alden. He played for the Washington Redskins ( yeah I said it, REDSKINS) for a few years if I am not mistaken. He was one of my favorite coaches. In fact, all of the staff all were good men. Not an a-hole in the bunch if I remember correctly.
Sorry 777!

One of the best kept secrets. We would get started by going to Quarter beer night and then go out. I saw Darryl Strawberry knock two out of the Park one night. He called both of them!
