this is actually beautiful, had no idea it was that close to a city, thought it was in the middle of desert

The Pyramids and Egyptian civilization were built where they could flourish and that hasn't changed even with modern technology. Egypt still requires that geography for their means.

Fun Fact: Cleopatra lived closer in time to the invention of the iPhone than she did to the building of the Great Pyramids of Giza.

Fun Fact 2: When the Great Pyramids of Giza were being built, woolly mammoths still lived in parts of northeast Asia.

That was in Cairo at the Stienberger Pyramids hotel.

What I didn’t know when I took that pic was that I had already caught some kind of Egyptian respiratory infection that was going to land me in the hospital twice.

In the first pic, the haze you see isn’t humidity.
