Never smoked and chew the damn gum. It really is an appetite suppressant.

Southwest used to fly out of Love Field in Dallas. They were known as “Love airlines.” They would only hire females meeting certain height/weight requirements. That practice was eventually challenged in federal court. This is the first sentence of the decision:

quote:

This case presents the important question whether femininity, or more accurately female sex appeal, is a bona fide occupational qualification ("BFOQ") for the jobs of flight attendant and ticket agent with Southwest Airlines.

I will let you guess the outcome.

That was also back when people would dress up to travel. Now they look like they've been doing yardwork before they get on the plane.

I pointed out watching a Hockey Final from 1970, every man in the stands was wearing a suit (smoking) and the women were all wearing dresses (smoking, too)

Wasn't that long ago, as airline employees, we had to wear coats and ties when we flew non-rev on partner airlines. And they were strict about it.

Yep. You can’t get rid of the unattractive ones anymore. I’m pretty sure that chick worked the last flight I was on. She’s about 65 now and doesn’t give one single frick.
