As someone with young teens, I can tell you it's 100% just a trendy thing.

I was in HS in the 90s and these kids who seem to be “trans” were the same outcasts who were goth dressers then. Fortunately for those Gen X kids, it was just baggy jeans and silly makeup instead of cutting off their tits and dongs.

I think trans the fad will pass and eventually it will go back to trans mainly being gay guys who want to be one of the girls.

Plus I think we'll see a fragmenting of the lgbtqia+ stuff. If I were an intersex person with a real physical condition, such as a woman born with internal testes, I wouldn't want to have anything to do with this foolishness.

I don't think the gender-bending stuff will go back in the bottle though and there will continue to be a de-masculinization of society. My guess is a big reason is generations of work and play becoming more and more intellectual where there's somewhat of a parity between men and women in performance. That and all the tofu and virtue signaling.

My husband and I were talking about this the other day. I think the majority of these kids will look back at their "trans phase" and cringe. Trans is the new emo.

Goths and Emos don't seem to be a thing anymore, they have been absorbed into this.

The group who all have something to complain about and believe they are different to everyone else.

Fingers crossed they pivot back to goths.

Its a political activism group that creates kids who think they are non binary because adults have told them they are.

So you get a massive gay group with few people who are actually gay.

This song 'i must be emo' from 2009 mocking emo kids encapsulates the tranny movement we see today.

the emo song circa 2009

The more things change the more they stay the same

but it being co opted by politicians and pharma is a right up there with progressives worshipping the establishment, or the gal who was protesting with occupy wall street up until wall street gave her a job.

Kids/teens, especially ones that aren’t “popular” look for ways to get attention/find their niche.

Trans is just the new emo from the 2000s or goth from the 80s etc. Just a way to “stand out” / go against the flow / get attention

ETA: jeez apparently I’m not alone in this thought

it’s just sad to see it play out

No, I want to align myself with people who don't talk about trannies every damn day

Avoid politics, entertainment and even sports. You'll be left with little to choose from

It is the issue the left has chosen to focus on to distract from the disaster that has been their reign. And it’s working.

In 2017-2021 the amount of US kids on puberty blockers covered by insurance went from 600 to 1300 and on hormone replacement therapy from 1900 to 4200. While that's a big increase, it's still only 0.012% of kids in that age group. So that's a miniscule % of kids actually undergoing treatment.

The OT obsession with this topic is mind numbing. This topic doesn’t come up in my daily life ever. Please stop watching Fox News so much. You will sleep better.

Explain “normal” parents who think they need to transition their young children, because…?

It's because they don't fit in anywhere or have positive relationships. When you go "trans", it's like a club. You're automatically accepted, celebrated, and protected.

It's absolutely a manifested mental derangement trend. The losers that are trying to explicate this as real science see this as another way to subvert the traditional family, and simply, reduce population. The kids need serious intervention, while the politicians advocating it as normal need prison sentences.

You may be right but I think it'll lead to more psychotic behavior and suicide.

But it’s a little more than just cringe when you look down and your pecker is gone.

The amount of kids who consider themselves trans has risen remarkably in the last few years all over the Western world.

Only a very, very tiny amount of kids are actually on therapy.

It's mostly been driven by teen girls (thinking they want to be boys) who are obviously very susceptible to social media trends.

Kids are remarkably impressionable. The age group studied by Hossenfelder is pretty much the same age group studied in the infamous Monster Study (they were ages 5-15). Influences pushed and then reinforced on such young children tend to have lifelong lasting effects.

That's why pushing this topic in schools is so incredibly dangerous. It's an age group where those members generally feel out of place as part of the maturation process and then we're introducing a philosophy that basically says "you feel that way because of x, just start doing y and everything will be great again" and they buy it.

AND THEN... if there is regret, you simply do not talk about it.

quote:

In the past year, MacKinnon and (her) team of researchers have talked to 40 detransitioners in the United States, Canada and Europe, many of them having first received gender-affirming medical treatment in their 20s or younger. Their stories have upended (her) assumptions.

Many have said their gender identity remained fluid well after the start of treatment, and a third of them expressed regret about their decision to transition from the gender they were assigned at birth. Some said they avoided telling their doctors about detransitioning out of embarrassment or shame. Others said their doctors were ill-equipped to help them with the process. Most often, they talked about how transitioning did not address their mental health problems.

Finally, a story that actually admits this whole "gender identity" bullshite is a mental health problem.
