Physicist/skeptic of everything Sabine Hossenfelder: Is trans a social fad among teens?

She posted this vid a couple of months ago and yes, it seems like it is a social fad among teens.
Sabine is a German physicist with an open mind about pretty much everything and she looked at the recent data around teens identifying as trans.
- A 2022 study by UCLA found the % of 13-17 that identified as trans was 1.2%, more than half of that in adults. The amount of adults has remained stable but in teens it's doubled 2016-2021.
- According to a healthtech survey, the number of kids aged 6-17 identified with gender dysphoria 2017-2021 almost tripled.
- In 2017-2021 the amount of US kids on puberty blockers covered by insurance went from 600 to 1300 and on hormone replacement therapy from 1900 to 4200. While that's a big increase, it's still only 0.012% of kids in that age group. So that's a miniscule % of kids actually undergoing treatment.
- This same type of shift has also been seen in the UK, Canada and Sweden and is probably happening all over the western world.
- The kicker is that it's most driven by girls who want to transition to male, which is the opposite of what has been seen in the past, when it was mostly males wanting to transition to females. This has been happening all over the western world.
So in summary:
The amount of kids who consider themselves trans has risen remarkably in the last few years all over the Western world.
Only a very, very tiny amount of kids are actually on therapy.
It's mostly been driven by teen girls (thinking they want to be boys) who are obviously very susceptible to social media trends.

As someone with young teens, I can tell you it's 100% just a trendy thing.

I've seen several articles recently comparing it to anorexia or other mass hysterias that spread through impressionable, copycat teenage girls.

Funny how as the LGBTQ groups gain more power more younger people are suddenly claiming LGBTQ status. But never say this out loud or the gay mafia will come to your house, break your thumbs, and burn your house down. Then they'll call all the local hospitals and issue bomb threats.

Somebody posted a video today on the poliboard of Emma Vigeland (lib from Young Turks) on Tim Pool's show. I could only deal with it for about 20 minutes, but she kept citing some American Journal of Pediatrics study(ies) about how it's totally normal and healthy to transition kids and acted like the science is settled. I was horrified.

I’m just sitting back laughing at these teen jackasses. There’s gonna be so many embarrassing awkward photos out there to make fun of constantly.
Again glad I never had kids as I would certainly be THAT old man to show up somewhere with my adult child and call out loudly “is this the little fairy playing tranny in that old photo?” upon meeting their boss.

Dems went beyond class warfare and trannyism gives them the ability to evangelize straight, white kids while demonizing straight white people.

The fad used to be just regular old gay. I've told the story here of my younger cousin who graduated high school 6/7 years ago now.
Shortly before graduation she was flipping through her senior yearbook. She was talking about different kids and one thing she was noting was who was "gay". There were way more than you'd expect for a 3A school in Alabama.
Fast forward several years and she was looking through it again. This time she was noting who was no longer "gay". I'd say that number was well over half.
I think kids these days want to feel "special". Some will do or say pretty much anything to feel special. So, yes......being "gay" then was a fad. Being "trans" now seems to be a fad. The difference is that being gay meant exploring sexuality and figuring shite out. In most cases it held little longterm impact on a kid's life. They would just have stories about that awkward phase of life that they can cringe over down the road. This, though, has much higher stakes.
