First of all I said Norcs, as in cops dipshit. If I am wrong then chalk it up to not being a drug head. Congrats, I am sure your parents are proud.

Ya....that would be NARCS not Norcs.

I don't think they can write an antibiotic rx, without a physican's signature on the pad as well. Probably why it was all called in to the pharmacies. Either way, what a dumbass.

They can write schedule 3-5 in Louisiana

eta: They should be treated just as heroin dealers considering the pain pill epidemic we have in this country.

The laws from state to state differ. I'm a PA and haven't once needed a physician to co-sign on any of my prescriptions.

I think you may be misinformed as to what a physician assistant's job description actually entails.

If a doc has to hold the hand of his PA he might as well just save his money and not hire him in the first place.

PAs and NPs can write anything they want. they are essentially the drs right hand. you do damn near everything a dr can except carry mal practice and make the tons of cash... they can assist in surgery as well....
and for the norco/hydro being the same thing.... its both false and correct. hydros have 500mg of tylenol and norcos have 325mg of tylenol, same narcotic in them.

It varies state to state

I'm licensed in MS and LA so I technically can write for schedule II and IIN in MS but only 3-5 in LA. And btw antibiotics aren't controlled substances so anyone with prescriptive authority can write that. PAs in General have a very low level of prescription disciplinary action as compared to MDs

I missed it, was Jeremy his supervising physician?

pas can write scripts for schedule 2-5 without drs signature, but has to have dr sig for schedule 1. However, the way the Chris probably got around that is more than likely he had a script book with the scripts pre signed by the physician therefor the PA could write whatever he wanted.

Eta: I see some other PAs in here are saying sched 3-5 so maybe I misunderstood her. I thought she said 2-5.

I thought Sch 1 was drugs that were not written, more of a law enforcement thing.

Of course, I'm not a doctor and I slept in my bed last night.

Lot of misinformation in this post. PAs and NPs can write schedule drugs but it varies state to state. We cannot write anything we want. It has to be within the scope of our practice and experience. Also most mid levels have their own malpractice insurance.

Norco is just a brand name of generic Hydrocodone/APAP. You can write the generics for just about any formulation you want

He is obviously not a great guy. He wrote approx 1000 fraudulent scripts. Not fraudulent as in "this guy is a pain med seeker but had a previous lumbar fusion and I'll give him a few pills". He wrote approx 1000 scripts for his buddies to fill. frick him.
