I just got a ticket in the mail for speeding(31 in a 25) in New Orleans. I've heard that you aren't actually liable to pay the company. Has anyone else had to deal with this BS?

I got one in BR. I paid it, but I severely regret that I did. From what I understand they are a third party company and have no real power under the law. But you should check on it before taking my word for it. I don't want to be the guy you blame when you get a warrant.

Refreshing topic, don't pay and good luck on the boot.

They will boot your car in NOLA for non-payment. Pay the ticket. Also, don't speed.

We get them and throw them in the trash. They have been threatening to take us to court for 2 years.
TN congressman sponsored a bill that will require camera citations to state this..."Nonpayment of this (citation) cannot adversely affect your credit score or report, driver's license, and/or automobile insurance rates."
He even burned a ticket he got in the mail on his facebook...

I got a red light camera ticket in Selma, AL and would not have paid it if I was not in the company truck and they make us pay them even though I told them there was no legal ramifications if we didn't.

I paid a ticket for a NOLA rolling right on red ticket and regret that I paid it.
Ticket was issued from a company in AZ.
My understanding is that the only recourse that NOLA has is to boot your vehicle if they see it in the city. I don't go there enough to worry about it.

You now are on the clock. You have a few months (3-6) before you end up on the boot list.
Good News!!
Don't worry about the cameras now. Just get a new license plate when your time runs out and you go on the boot list. Until then you can blow through the cameras with no worry, because your license plate is going to be "stolen" in a couple months and those tickets are gone.

There is power in numbers. Do not pay this crap. If everyone rolls over on this type of government overstep for peccadillos we will all lose in the long run.

I have 2-3 from the shitty red light cams in NOLA but the only place I park down there is valet at Harrah's so theres no point in paying.

I got a speeding ticket from a cop in South Dakota 10 years ago. I never paid it.
I'm never going to South Dakota again.

Beware that it doesn't always work that way. If the state cooperate the bench warrant issued will get you arrested in your home state.

In most cities/states, you can ignore the ticket nd nothing will happen.. but as stated above, in NOLA you can ignore it, your insurance will never go up, you'll never have a warrant out for your arrest , etc-- but your car WILL get booted.. so will 'pay' for the ticket either way. Yes, a 3rd party co in AZ administers the tickets, and they get roughly 50% of the money you pay... for the smug poster above who said 'Don't speed'-- i will have you know that i have gotten MULTIPLE photo tickets in NOLA for going 24 mph in a 20 in a school zone on a SUNDAY, when not a soul is in school... so no, I wasn't speeding , but still got tickets.. but by all means, please keep defending this racket.

Never pay a camera enforced ticket. They are a scam.

Not to mention, if they push it and your state cooperates they can suspend your license over an out of state ticket. Guy that works for me had that happen with a ticket out of Oklahoma. Ticket was from 1994 , in 2012 he went to renew his license, no bueno , suspended due to non payment in Oklahoma. HAD to pay the ticket in OK before AR would renew his license.
