If someone you loved was killed in front of you, but someone created a copy of them that was perfect right down to the atomic level, would they be the same person and would you love them just as much?

there was a Black Mirror episode about this

but the answer to this is no, even if they were created equal at the atomic level, they would still lack the experiences of life as the previous version, therefore they would be a different person

Does the Star Trek transporter really transport people, or does it kill them and create a perfect copy on the other end?

Corollary to the original question: Can a murderer get off death row if they can create a copy of their victim that is the same down to the atomic level?

And how about quantum teleportation. Would you remain "you" if teleported?

No because they still committed the act

You still go to jail for theft, even if I can buy what you stole from me

I didn’t say out of jail, I said off death row.

An eye for an eye, but what if the victim can get a perfect copy of their eye back?

A friend of mine had this before he was replaced by an exact copy of himself.

Our justice system isn't based on eye for eye though.

I have researched this a small amount. Common thought is if we ever had the ability to clone at the subatomic level, there is no proof consciousness would be the same. So it will basically be another human.

I ve always seen it as killing and copying. You are gone. Your copy lives on.
