Not quite as negligent as Penn State as far as I can tell.

I don't believe they put a backpack on him and laid him on a couch to sleep it off like the PSU guys did.

It seems like the hospital would have drawn blood when he came into the ER to determine WTF they were dealing with, but I'm just speculating.

IIRC, Ben Wynne's BAC was 0.588, which is stratospherically high.

How similar is this to the recent fraternity death case at Penn State?

Penn State was depraved indifference and an attempted coverup. This treads close to some degree of homicide, if the facts are anywhere close to the rumors. The Penn State guys skated due to good lawyering and mostly because Penn State gonna Penn State. I don't see these slezeballs getting off that easy.

Not much of a Greek hierarchy guy... who would they pin this on and have it stand in court?

I believe that's what the coroner said...that what was in his blood came from hospital testing upon arrival, but that they would perform their own toxicology testing which would take some time. I think his initial findings were based on hospital testing.

The press conference stated that they were going by the blood draws on admission. The coroner's toxicology report won't be back for a few weeks.

Whoever was forcing everclear down the mouth of a guy passing in and out of consciousness if the stories I've heard are true. It's not like anyone is going to be going to jail for life over this but someone will be held responsible whether it's criminal or civil charges

The PSU guy died of his injuries, not alcohol poisoning. But those fricking guys deserve to be thrown under the jail. How the weren't convicted on some type of conspiracy charge is beyond me. There was an active cover up taking place. They talked about dumping him in the snow by a local bar. They erased texts. The stonewalled investigators.

I know of a pretty solid group of guys from Chs br that are Phi Delts. Man I hope they weren't involved..You wouldn't think they'd be the type to take things too far.

While it's kind of sad because as far as we know he wasn't involved and knew nothing about it, the president would be held responsible as well as those directly involved and possibly some of the other exec members.

If the rumor of them continuing to force Everclear down his throat is true, there will be a few people facing jailtime.

(The question was who are they gonna pin it on)

That's certainly who NEEDS to have it pinned on, not the chapter pres or other officers.
The problem is proof.
These guys aren't going to rat each other out normally...the first one to turn state's will have the others full-on landslide blame at him, claiming he's the one that did it and now trying to save his own was.

Pulling their charter was the best way to counter the loyalty factor: why lie now when there's nothing to save?

Actives forcing pledges to drink a shot of Everclear/Diesel whenever they answered a question wrong.

Chapter President wasn't there at the time.

When they tried to wake him the next day at the Phi Delt house, they could not. He still had a pulse and they brought him to the ER where he died.

Nobody potentially facing criminal charges is trying to save his chapter. They knew the second he died that they were gone. They're trying to save their own arse from prison right now, and that's completely understandable whether we like it or not. Their "loyalty" comes from not going to jail, not saving a chapter or brotherhood.

I haven't paid attention to the Penn State case but from here I'm guessing all of those guys walked?

All of them? Is it completely done? Those guys were as guilty as OJ.

Which is just so amazingly stupid. I probably drank more than I should have when I was pledge but it was mostly Warm Cisco and various bum wines or by choice.

Even the most dickish of frat-stars i knew avoided alcohol hazing, it is just retarded.

In the early 90s, there used to be beer trucks in the parking lot of the houses for Rush parties and keg parties throughout the year.

Once LSU cracked down on alcohol on campus, they had to change to liquor because it's easy to hide bottles instead of kegs.

Has anyone ever heard of anyone drinking themselves to death via Natty Light?

They are 18-21 year old frat kids that have a death on their hands, these are violent gang members or hardened criminals

So an entire organization has to suffer because one kid can't control his alcohol?

Was this really an incident of hazing or was this just an accident?
