I saw screen shots of what looked like people putting everclear in the mouth of a guy that could barely hold his head up. No idea if they are even from that frat but the stories I've heard are pretty similar to what happened.
Again, I have no idea if any of this is related to this incident or old screen shots made into rumors

Sucks for their Alumni. Should have joined a real frat like KtothefrickingA

But, just quickly, did his death involve something more than the typical shenanigans involving frats and alcohol as seen on every campus, every weekend?
They forced him to chug Everclear, which is something I have never heard of anybody doing. It screams tryhard.

Actual facts are sketchy at this point.
The facts as I'm familiar with it are that the pledge drank a LOT at a party at the house, went back to his dorm, then was brought to the ER by his roommate where he died of alcohol poisoning.
Other stories are out there including one claiming he was forced to drink a lot of Everclear as a punishment for something, supposedly that he called Nationals to reinstate him as a pledge after being dismissed, but those aren't confirmed.

If that's true, they'll be seeing jail time. That's absolutely ridiculous.

Not familiar with frats....what happens to the house???!

Bingo.

The authorities keep saying he was brought from the Phi Delt house to the ER. If they just dumped him at his dorm, they're even more fricked.

I've heard a few different versions of this story, too. One is that his mom called and threatened to contact nationals and LSU to report their bullshite if he wasn't allowed back in after being dropped. Another is that he never received a bid, but there was a connection to Phi Delt (maybe legacy?) and they somehow got Phi Delt to bring him in. The second story is incredibly full of holes, though.
The first story is very plausible. It actually happens fairly often.

And the SnapChat connection is just mind-boggling to me. How anybody allows for cell phones to even be in the room for this shite is beyond comprehension. That's rule #1.
Yeah, hazing that leads to death should be done in private.

When my friends in college got too fricked up, we put them in a bed, couch, or a hammock in some cases. We would have never wasted liquor on someone already passing out

The land is owned by LSU, but the house is owned by the fraternity. Likely, they'll rent it to a chapter without a house (ATO, Beta, Theta Chi, etc.). When Acacia was kicked off, Kappa Sig lived in their house while the new house was being built. When Sigma Chi was kicked off, Beta rented their house, but they apparently destroyed it so Sigma Chi told them to go frick each other in somebody else's house.

Depends on the state and school.
I think that LSU rules let the fraternity keep ownership of the house but it gets shuttered while the fraternity has its charter pulled.
At Southern Miss, the school owns the house and will kick the fraternity out and place another one in there. This happens for reasons including fraternities having a charter pulled as well as an inability to keep enough members living at the house.

You can choose to be dense, or you can realize that I'm obviously not condoning this type of hazing. It's up to you.

I've honestly never seen anyone drink Everclear. It has always been put in jungle juice and other shite, but nobody actually drank it like a whiskey or tequila.

They sucked, which is probably part of how this incident came to be. The shitty chapters trying to imitate what they thought good chapters did to their pledges, but because they're losers, they just frick it up while trying to be TFM stars.
There is something to be said about having a strong alum base to keep things in check; even though 99% of alums that hang around frats are douchers, in my experience.

As I have heard it, there was no official party going on at the house, but there were some freshmen there studying for upcoming tests. They were "playing a game" where the freshman would have to take shots every time they answered a question wrong. Things apparently got very rowdy throughout the night. I've heard some reports saying he was taken to the ER from his dorm and others saying he was taken to the ER from the fraternity house. I have reliable sources that say his BAC was six times the legal limit at the time of death, which was around noon... approximately .46 BAC, which is absolutely insane! And keep in mind this was apparently hours after he'd stopped drinking...

Unless his liver shut down completely, it was likely higher than that when he was brought in if he lingered for something like 12 hours.

How similar is this to the recent fraternity death case at Penn State?

Made the mistake of mixing blue powerade mix with straight everclear to play beer pong at the house back in the day. Woke up in the library of the house on the floor in a puddle of blue puke.
frick everclear. That shite is poison.

You said rule #1 is no cell phones. Perhaps you should re-evaluate the rules.
