They couldn't come up with a better way to deal with the identification on the statue without obliterating the pedestal? And, it had to be taken off right at that moment without thought to the eyesore they were leaving at the entrance of a nice city park area?
They couldn't have sanded it down?
Someone with a little sense could have planned what was to be placed in those locations prior to taking down the statues
As I said earlier:
The citizens and the idea of democracy just got Bitch slapped by facism. Mitch unilaterally decided to use public funds to vandalize private property and steal private art work off of private property that was the current subject of both litigation and legislation.
Let that sink in. Let that gravity of Mitch's actions sink in.
It's actually a fantastic microcosm of the Civil War.

What's his end goal, here? This actually hurts his chances at any higher office and only bolsters his support among those whose support he already had.

Or maybe they don't care or really believe in the Lost Cause of the Confederacy / White Supremacy,etc........?
They understand that the war is over?
Not surprising that you don't really understand what this is about.

That looks like absolute dogshit, and it's likely going to stay that way for a while.
Mitch said they'll have it cleaned up and looking presentable in no time just like Jazz Land.

He would not have been touched if he spray painted BLM all over it.
Posted on 5/17/17 at 11:26 am to JS87
Bahahahahaha
They tagged both sides of the pedestal with Beautegard's name.
NOPD was 10 mins late. Now, three squad cars there....so fast too. If it was a capital crime, it would take hours.
Probably the city will fund the clean up costs....and damn be the potholes.
What a backward banana republic.

Exactly. I just cannot understand why they couldn't have done something that didn't look as bad as the mess they left there. I guess they were in a hurry to get it done and the fireman and police needed to get back to their real jobs.
It's pitiful to intentionally leave an eyesore in a pretty part of the city. It's certainly not professional on anyone's part, the mayor's, the council's, the people doing the work... If you're going to do it, do it right.

So, if 3 of the 4 statues are now gone, does that mean crime is down 75% in New Orleans now?

In all complete honesty, what is the charge.
And whatever it is, can't you charge anyone who touched that monument last night with the same thing.
Hypocrisy everywhere

Thanks...hadn't thought about that.

The same city is currently arresting someone for that.

That's what I'm saying. Can't you arrest and charge everyone involved with the removal under the same thing this guy is being arrested for?

Is it defacing a public monument if there is no monument?
