Feral cats are a massive issue.

Have you not read the thread?

No one is saying to ban cats.

Just keep them in your home.

A cat with a home is not feral. Also, the google says there are 76 million housecats in the US. That means that each one would have to kill 93 animals per year to hit the low end of your 7 Billion to 20 Billion animals killed per year. And that is assuming every single house cat is involved.

Ask google again and they will point out that feral cats account for about 2/3 of the killing, while house cats that are allowed to roam account for the other 1/3.

We could fix 1/3 of the problem by keeping house cats within the house.

Again, what point are you trying to make here?

Do you think if cats were homeless, that there would be fewer cats and that they would not kill small animals?

I'm sorry I have no idea what you are trying to ask here

This is a thread about housecats, not feral cats.

Ok, if you want to discuss solely house cats, they kill about 30% of the reported numbers.

My stance is keep them within the house.

Again, what point are you making here?

Also, PETA actually supports euthanizing feral cats, another position I agree with them on.

I'm not a science denier, but I would love to know who is studying this, and how accurate the numbers are, considering you introduced a range of +/- 13 BILLION animals.

It’s tough to believe this is an argument, even for this place

If you believe ecosystems exist (fact)

And you believe they are important (fact)

And you believe invasive species exist (fact)

And you believe cats are an invasive species (fact)

And you believe invasive species can wreak fricking havoc on an ecosystem (fact)

Then what possible objection could one have to the OP without just ignoring basic facts?

Exactly. I've been saying this for years: We need more coyotes. Bring it all the way to D.C.!

Imagine how many more rats and mice we’d have without cats

You can find data through the NIH and through the US Wildlife and Fisheries.

Wow, I actually found something I agree with PETA on. Cows might be flying when I walk outside.

The only redeeming quality a cat has is it takes care of rodents. I guess a few birds as collateral damage can be expected.
