I don't trust the numbers PETA used, and PETA went full a LONG time ago, but if house cats had scales they would be classified as an invasive species and we would be rewarded with killing them.

My cat refuses to come inside. If I pick her up and bring her in she gets upset and will meow constantly until I let her out. Never seen her kill a bird though, she prefers roaches and snakes
She loves to kill a roach outside and leave it on the doorstep for me to see

Imprison my barn cats? They kill all the mice.
I bet they want free range chicken eggs though.
Why do they get to decide? And why are birds so dumb? They fly and shite. Can they not just fly away from cats?
Yep, we live adjacent to a large farm pasture. Our cat kills all of the rodents and keeps them away from the house. A bird is just a victim to the predator. Same thing can be said of the cat if the coyotes get them.

Not sure why anyone cares what they say

Stray cats kill billions of birds in the US alone every year.
They have attributed to the extinction of some species.

So, keep them inside and feed them store bought cat food made up of beef biproducts or harvested fish. Sounds logical to me.

I have two free range cats. They mostly stay in the yard, the field across the road, or in the woods behind the house. Both are stone cold killers who do an excellent job keeping mice and snakes away from my casa. Some birds are sacrificed for sure but that's just nature doing nature things.

From what I've seen, well fed domestic cats are not so aggressive in stalking birds or small prey. Laying on the grass in the sunshine is more likely.

Do you know mine? Unless a bird alights on one the bird is safe.

I don’t really hate PETA for this.
Yes, cats kill birds. But they aren’t hunting them. They rarely actually eat them. They just like the hunt and the kill. So the whole natural circle of life doesn’t really apply.
Letting your cat roam outside is letting it kill whatever gets its attention and you probably don’t even know the body count as they leave them in flower beds and shite.
