I was born and raised in Louisiana, make jambalaya about 6 times a year, and I say JAMbalaya.
If someone told me that I wasnt from the south because I said "jam" instead of "jum" you know what I would tell them?

JOM is likely the most appropriate pronunciation. JUM is an acceptable regional dialect pronunciation. JAM is a fricking abomination.

Jambalaya is a dish thats roots come from west africa (jollof) and is very closely related to an old creole dish called "jumberlie"
