Perseid Meteor Shower Peaks Tonight

The Perseid meteor shower reaches its peak Wednesday night, giving skywatchers a chance to see one of the year’s most spectacular meteor showers.
My kid and wife mentioned last night that they'd like to go somewhere dark to witness it. Any suggestions on where to go an hour or so away from the New Orleans area to watch it? Preferably someplace not sketchy where I won't get robbed and shot.

If you’re in the Baton Rouge area, Highland Road Park Observatory would be an excellent place to go watch it.

I wish they wouldn't schedule these in the middle of the night.

I saw a few yesterday morning. Cloud cover over Lookout Mtn gave me a few issues sun and Mon night. But all good.
Not sure I will get out tonight but maybe. Best time is supposed to be like 2-4 I think. New moon helps.
