95%. Whenever I talk about Xi Jinping, no one has any idea who he is when he’s probably the most powerful man in the world right now.

You are right. Plenty of people don’t like it to hear it and will call it American centric. But the US has to be by far the most talked about country in the world. Some of the talk are the positive things while plenty is negative and neutral observations.

Europeans seem to care too much about American politics.

Well their national security depends more on US politics than it does on their own politics. They should care

How about 10 Downing Street. Might be the reason for the blank look

95% can't name a CURRENT world leader, other than perhaps Putin.

And while Putin is a bad mother fricker, he’s nowhere near the threat Xi Jinping is to us and the world. It’s what Leftists bring up to me on Putin being the world’s actual Big Bad and biggest threat to the US and the world and not Xi. Reasons they’re wrong:

1) Russia is our #30 trading partner while China is #1.
2) China produces 80% of our pharmaceutical supplies.
3) China is right on and largely controls the world’s largest trading route while Russia basically control none of the world’s major trading routes.
4) Chinese cyber attacks and disinformation are far smarter and more dangerous than Russians (almost any idiot can spot Russian disinformation but it’s harder from China).
5) The Belt and Road Initiative
6) They bought Africa.
7) Control the world’s 5G
8) Have the world’s worst virus labs and wet markets making another pandemic from them inevitable
9) Our media and tech lords are beholden to the Chinese.
10) Their human rights abuses since the Fall of the Soviet Union make Russia’s look like nothing.

I’d wager that a very, VERY high percentage would say “God bless you” when you say

I'm not sure knowing some UK domestic political controversy is necessary to understanding global politics.

Conversation content aside, she had no idea of who I was even talking about.

Granted, the conversation wasn’t very “political” in nature, but you gotta know the god damned players, haha

Some people probably just don’t care. And why should they? Do you think they know about things that you aren’t familiar with?

Probably similar to the percentage of people in Louisiana who have passports.

Your example was somehow both pretentious and retarded.

That's an achievement.

Good old BJ is one of the maybe 5% of world leaders that I know about.

Not that most are even worth knowing.

Yeah, our currently supply chain crisis clearly show this to be the case.
