BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Governor John Bel Edwards has decided not to allow Louisiana to enter into the less-restrictive Phase 3 of reopening the economy, a source familiar with the decision said Monday, June 22.

Not shocked. We are having a spike in cases in the Calcasieu/Jeff Davis pariah areas for sure. Don’t know about other places, but since phase 2 it’s only gone up...

Eh. I think we all assumed this.

I honestly don't think we will move to Phase 3 unless the numbers are essentially nothing here and in neighboring states. Or there is a vaccine.

They will keep this power in play as long as they can.

Easy for someone to say when they don’t have family in a nursing home

Yes.

Phase 3 is essentially normal activity for businesses with some minor exceptions.

I performed testing this weekend and the number of positives were slightly higher than it has been. Positive results in children and young adults have increased. These were symptomatic patients.

What I do not understand is why everyone is freaking out that the spread increased whenever things opened back up partially. Duh. That is what is going to happen no matter when or how fully we return to normal levels of activity.

Doesn't matter whether we do it today, or in September, or next year. There will immediately be an increase in new cases. Why we are choosing to delay that moment I'll never understand.

One of the biggest things is visitation to hospitals and nursing homes. The Department of Health is fricking up. Nursing home residents are suffering from major depression, rapid decline in cognitive function, weight loss, and increased psych issues from being isolated and restricted from their families and outside world.

But muh face masks n shite.

Considering no one is listening to the Phase 2 restrictions in the first place, not too much.
