A bartender last weekend told me that he had never flown in a plane, seen the ocean, or been on a boat that was moving.

I've been to 28 States and 26 Countries iirc. I can't fathom just being in my city all the time.

yeah this is very common with poor urban people, mostly because they don't have a vehicle

No reason for them to leave either. If your family lives in the city, your job is in the city, and you can't afford vacation, then why would you leave?

Anyone know of any grown adults who have never flown before? Hell what about people who have never left their birth state. I think all my family has flown before although I think I had a cousin who didn't travel until college.

An ex-girlfriend of mine didn't leave the state until she was 18. I think she was 17 the first time she went as far as Baton Rouge (she was from the Lafayette area). I'm not sure if she's flown, but she hadn't the last time I was in contact with her (around 21 years old).

My mom didn't fly until she was 43 (I think). She traveled quite a bit as a child and as an adult, but it was always on road trips.

I'm pretty sure that my wife's youngest sister still hasn't flown anywhere, she's 21.

The irony is strong with the assertion the board is full of those who are not well traveled.

This is crazy to me. I don't get how people can live without seeing what's outside of their bubble.

I saw the Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, and Gulf of Mexico within 3 months of each other this past year.

I didn't fly until my honeymoon to Mexico, but i had been to 24 of the 50 states all via minivan as a kid.

There are tons of people from SLA that never fly and only venture out to Gulf Shores

The wife only been on a plane twice. Once going and once coming back. She was 50 for that trip.

We always drove to were we wanted to go.

My WWII-veteran granduncle had never been on a plane until he was ~ 89. During his time in the service, troops traveled by train or ship.

I knew this guy, real fricking genius, used to tell this airplane joke about a stewardess giving a pilot a BJ, but he had never even left the Boston area.

Traveling sucks. I leave for Tampa next week and will have only spent 10 or so days this month at home by the time I get back and I hate it.

Well I really don't feel the need to travel to entertain myself. I can get on s boat and travel the many waterways of south Louisiana and have loads of fun....

Was in my 30s first time I flew. White knuckled all the way.

Now in my 60s, I have flown twice to Japan, once to England, Kenya, Israel. Once or more to NYC, Boston, San Francisco, San Diego, Albuquerque, Dallas, Houston, Salt Lake City, New Orleans, Tampa, Atlanta, Charlotte, Louisville, Huntsville, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Miami, Oklahoma City.

I love flying, but hate turbulence.

I have never flown before. However I was born in North Carolina but have lived most of my life (in descending year total order) in Georgia, New Mexico, Virginia, and New Hampshire.
Also I have driven through or visited each of South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, Maine, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas.

Also I have been to Quebec several times when a kid to visit relatives, and probably have crossed the border into Canada illegally several times while walking in the woods when living in New Hampshire (you could see the border crossing from the 2nd floor of the house and we were the closest house to the border).

Yea and also to take my dad to MD Anderson for appointments.

Was in Vegas last week and came back for 2 days then had to leave for Houston. I will be in Tampa 4 days, come back for a week or so, then Houston, come back, then Mexico, come back, and move to Houston for a month or two after that while he does clinical trials. It sucks and is exhausting.

I guess I am fortunate enough to have a business where I can work from anywhere and take care of my dad so I can't bitch too much.
