Here's a suggestion that will certainly solve the problem. Contact your nearest snowflake democrat congressman gin up protests that we need universal auto insurance. After all, the government would pay for it, it would be less of a burden on those that opted to drop-out and it wouldn't cost us a thing!
AAIA (Affordable Auto Insurance Act)

There is a provision, under certain conditions, that if you can escrow the max amount of $$$ statute liability under legal consignment such as Surety bond or other Funds deposited with the state, then you can forego the cost of insurance premiums. Why throw money away?
In other words, I don't have auto insurance.
ETA: However, I do have conventional auto insurance on the vehicle I use daily. Had to play the law of averages.

exactly...my company is self insured. kind of freaks out the police officers when you get checked, though.

What is your color ratio here?

Yep. While I always support and respect officers, some can be kinda arrogant/ignorant about all things law.

Did they use a blinker? If not then yes, they definitely should at least be sterilized.

If you are in LA you better have uninsured motorists on your policy. Last month my aunt found that out the hard way that you do not want a drunk uninsured person to hit you if you do not have uninsured motorists on your policy.

I think they should have their car blown up on the side the road if it's still operable

Both times I got hit personally was drunk white trash. Felt bad for one guy cause he was a amputee Nam vet, but the mother fricker was driving drunk with 3 dwis.
Relative who got hit today was by a white person.

You can sue anyone, but collecting is a different ballgame. Surely you have UM etc... and med pay.

You should be able to sue them for as much as your damage costs with them automatically having to pay all court costs.
Sue them for what? There is a reason they don't have insurance. It's b/c they have no money.

Insurance follows the vehicle in LA, so that driver may not have their own policy, but the car they were in was insured the whole time.

So you're self insured. You don't have conventional insurance, but you aren't uninsured. You shouldn't be hung, but you should at least be moderately inconvenienced for being misleading.

Let me add a friendly reminder:
Uninsured motorist bodily injury covers bodily injury when the other driver is at fault and uninsured
Uninsured motorist property damage covers property damage when the other driver is at fault and uninsured
Collision covers property damage no matter who is at fault and has a deductible.
Call your agent to discuss what you need.

You have to specify that you want your policy to cover uninsured people
Actually, you have to specify that you want your policy to exclude UM coverage. If you fail to specifically deny coverage then the policy automatically comes with it.

and pay more for some reason.
Really? You have to pay in more premiums for an additional coverage? That's crazy talk.
