How can they get ticketed and fined and that money not go to the victim of their incompetence?

You should be able to sue them for as much as your damage costs with them automatically having to pay all court costs.

shite is ridiculous. Why should I even get insurance if I don't cause wrecks and dumbasses who do don't have it?

People who don't have car insurance should be hung. No excuse for not having it

Wait. Isn't that why you do need insurance?

The police aren't gonna voluntarily give up their precious ticket money. If the people can't afford insurance, what makes you think they can pay whatever settlement you get in a lawsuit? Most of them won't even pay their ticket.

well, you can....you can sue anyone for anything that you want to sue for and that sounds like a pretty solid reason to me....

Why would anyone not get the insurance for being hit by a driver w/out insurance? Doing that is just as dumb.

I'll never understand why people try to skate by to save a few bucks a month rather than just have the piece of mind that you won't get fricked.

Doesn't uninsured motorist insurance cover incidents like this.

No, you get insurance to cover your arse in case you cause a wreck. You have to specify that you want your policy to cover uninsured people and pay more for some reason.

Yea, I know. I don't understand this either. But a relative of mine appears not to have it, was hit today, and can't really afford to be without a car or have the money to fix it.

Not only that, but part of the reasons our rates are as high as they are is because that risk is factored into our premiums already. So in other words we are already paying for those people before we are ever hit by them.

I had liability with uninsured motorist coverage, got hit, got $3500, made the guy pay for the rest of the damage.

What if I told you I don't have car insurance? But have taken action that provides for the law without me having to pay premiums to a corporation? Should I be hung?

Yes, but you've got to hire a lawyer and incur court costs before the process can begin. And you're not guaranteed to recoup that money even if you win.

I've always carried uninsured so I guess I forget it isn't standard.

Because there are uninsured dumbasses who cause wrecks, and it is nice to have coverage for yourself and your vehicle in case one of them runs into you.

The only wreck I've ever been involved in was with an uninsured motorist in Baton Rouge. Luckily the owner of the car, who let his girlfriend borrow it, had insurance. His insurance payed for my damage.

Yeah I don't understand why people don't either, but they do.

The only times I've ever been hit, none of the pieces of shite had valid insurance. It's really hard not to beat the frick out of them in front of everybody.
