What's behind this? Most people are materialistic to some degree, but then there are those for whom other people's perceptions of their wealth and status are paramount. It's especially common with people who go into debt trying to make sure their presentation is affluent enough.

For example: It's not just not just having an expensive car, but making sure everyone sees you in it.

What's wrong with just living a simple life, drinking good bourbon, admiring the scenery, enjoying hobbies and blowing strangers up on the internet?

Didn’t get the right kind of attention for the right things at a young age.

They're insecure and have psychological issues because they didn't get enough attention growing up.

Social media. Needing to show off for likes and attention . Gotta flaunt it so it makes them feel better about themselves

Before I read “up on the internet” to end that last sentence I thought very differently of you. Not that there’s anything wrong with that....

And I agree. No need to show it off. If you have it people will figure it out pretty quick.

If I had frick you money, I’d be hunting humans for sport on a private island. I wouldn’t be trying to impress them with my fancy wristwatch.

I like making my own money and creating wealth, I find that an aphrodisiac.

Your post history makes it clear you do this too often and with excess.

They also tend to have a blindspot, where they don't realize the people they emulate/try to impress see their striverism.

Making repeated references to your Porsche makes it obvious you're invested in me knowing you own a Porsche. And once I know that, I'm not impressed.

Girls taking strategic IG photos showing jewelry or handbags, etc. - you don't think the other striver girls know you're placing those items strategically?

It's just hilarious to me how much energy is wasted setting up a ruse that the people you most want to impress will spot quickly.

Unfortunately this isn't a status symbol, except for people that want to wave around a bottle of pappy because it's expensive.

I sure do find great pleasure in a prime beef steak with a good German stout, followed by a whistle pig on the rocks. I'm just not gonna put a pic of it on the internet.

Social media is the worst thing to happen to society. I wish everyone would get rid of that shite.

I view things like Instagram and Facebook as traditional social media. TigerDroppings is in a different category IMO.
