Some people have a more aggressive need for acceptance
My guess is that it is over compensation for other stuff going on in their life.

I do know one girl like that. She also posts pictures of her and her girlfriend excursions all the time. I have never seen one where she wasn't dead center of the group. Never on the end or in the back. If it's 7 women in a row, she is in the middle. If it is staged front/back, she is center front bending down with her hands on her knees. She is 42 and not some early 20s girl.

It can also be a genetic thing. If someone has a parent(s) who have a certain "attention seeking" personality, it could just be a personality trait that isn't caused by any type of overcompensation.

I have met some people like that and it's usually people who don't socialize very much so they tend to go overboard. Or, like someone said, a case of narcissism and mostly phony.
It doesn't bother me much, I find it entertaining.

I've always been closer to the center of attention than not,.. I always felt a bit of a burden at times and felt people looked to me for a good time...... but I'm thinking maybe this thread is talking about something a bit different. About people having to be hr center of attention 'at all cost' and 'obnoxious' or people being 'one uppers', those things aren't really in my wheel house. I'm just a busy body that likes and knows how to have fun and usually have my ear to the ground and know what's going on in the city you know.

I don't get why you think it's weird that females, or anyone for that matter, shares pics of their excursions with their friends and like to be front and center in pics she has that they can look back and remember and share with the world
What's the issue here, besides possible jealousy on your part

I usually just enter the party with my peter pulled out, everyone laughs at the baby penis. Ice breaker, i'm the hit of party, and the shite gets started.

Its one thing to share it with friends, but these people usually don't JUST friend.. friends on FB, twitter, snapchat, instagram, etc. And someone can been sort of an "attention seeker" without having to be center of attention every single time.
Someone can be an attention seeker, but not be over the top with it. In a lot of cases its "just how they are"..
